The buds are unusually long and are nearly cylindrical when they begin to open.

The flowers open, high centered, and tightly cupped.

As the flowers continue to open they form a loose cupped form with slightly incurving central petals.

 
 

 
GENERAL
INFORMATION:

'Golden Unicorn' is a beautiful yellow blend shrub with large (4'), double, (25 - 30 petals), shallow cupped, sweetly fragrant blooms that occur in clusters of 1-8 flowers. The blooms are cadmium orange, tinted at the edges with shrimp red.

'Golden Unicorn' forms a vigorous upright (2-1/2' to 3') bush, and the bloom repeats throughout the growing season. It is very hardy and disease resistant.

'Golden Unicorn' forms a vigorous upright bush, 2-1/2' to 3' in height.

The foliage is dark olive green, leathery and abundant with coarse serrations around the leafelets. The canes have tan awl-like thorns.

'Golden Unicorn' was named for Dr. Buck's division in World War II, when he was a paratrooper.
